Wilhelm Ott

Wilhelm Ott ( born April 12, 1886 in Wettenhausen near Günzburg, † January 6, 1969 in Walkertshofen at Schwab Munich) was a German politician. He was in 1945 appointed acting mayor of the city of Augsburg.

Ott was born the son of an innkeeper and postmaster and studied after leaving school at the universities of Munich and Erlangen Jura. After the state examination in 1912, he was first assessor at the railway headquarters in Augsburg. Since August 1919, he was professionality City Council in different units of the Augsburg city council and city treasurer from 1939.

On 28 April 1945 he was appointed by the occupying Power as acting mayor, he was soon dismissed already on 31 August 1945 after he had fallen out with the military government on the issue of de-Nazification of the administration. Then Ott was from April to October 1946 police officer with the Government of Swabia and then to May 1958 Finance Officer of the City.
