Geography

Wolnzach lies in the fertile hills of tertiary Hallertau, the largest contiguous hop-growing region in the world.

History

Wolnzach was first mentioned in 756 in the Memorandum of Monastery Wessobrunn as Wolamotesaha. 1465 Hans von Preysing was awarded to Wolnzach the realm of freedom. Already in 1482 falls Wolnzach but to Bavaria -Landshut. Wolnzach was Pflegamt and had a market court with important intrinsic rights.

From 1726 to 1802 the monastery was Wolnzach, a Capuchin monastery, nothing of that is available today. Wolnzach was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community. After the distribution of community reasons to farmers adopted since 1834 with the introduction of the first hop label in the Hallertau hop growing a significant upswing. In 1864, the market was one of 230 houses and 1,300 inhabitants, who were active in the local trades, but mainly in the strongly driven hop culture.

Since 2002 there has been in Wolnzach the German Hop Museum.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1971, the formerly independent communities Gebrontshausen were incorporated ( with Jebertshausen ) Gosseltshausen, Hausen House, King Field and Niederlauterbach and a part of the community Postal. A part of the mountain community was added on July 1, 1972. On 1 January 1978 Eschelbach followed an der Ilm, Geroldshausen, Lars Bach and Oberlauterbach.

In the incorporated towns are now living together about 4,500 people while the population of the capital Wolnzach is almost 6500.

  • Through the town, the A93 ( towards Regensburg and yard ), the few kilometers west of the town on Highway Holledau on the A9 (Munich - Berlin ) hits.
  • Rail link is at the [ [ high-speed line Nuremberg - Ingolstadt - Munich ] ]: Every hour run from Rohrbach station five kilometers away ( Ilm ) trains to Munich, Ingolstadt and Nuremberg.
  • The Hallertau local train from Rohrbach to Main Castle and Langenbach is only for freight traffic to Wolnzach in operation.
