Würth-Preis für Europäische Literatur

The non-profit foundation based in Würth Künzelsau was founded in 1987 by Carmen and Reinhold Würth, to support the work culture of the company Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG. It is equipped with a capital of 4.1 million euros; in recent years (as of July 2005), it distributed an average of 150,000 euros. All costs for the current business of the Foundation shall be borne by the company.

Foundation Goals

Purpose of the Foundation is to promote science and research as well as art and culture through the following measures:

  • Organization of scientific events
  • Commissioning research
  • Support for private universities
  • Development of artists by awarding prizes and scholarships
  • Financing contracts to artists
  • Initiating and supporting artistic events in music and the arts
  • Contributions to care and preservation of collections
  • Promotion of cultural institutions such as museums, theaters and libraries

Robert Jacobsen Prize

By Robert Jacobsen Prize, which was created in memory of the Danish artist Robert Jacobsen, visual artists are promoted since 1993. It is endowed with 15,000 euros and is awarded every two years.

With the Würth Prize for European Literature, which is awarded every two years since 1998, to literary efforts to the cultural diversity of Europe are appreciated. It is endowed with 25,000 euros.

Würth Prize for Literature / Tübingen poetry chair

The Tübingen poetry chair allows the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen since 1996, invite prominent writer for courses and workshop discussions. The faculty changed from semester to semester, since 2005 finds the lectureship only once per year in the winter semester instead. The Tübingen poetry chair is organized by the German Department of the University under the direction of Dorothee Kimmich.

In cooperation with the respective owner of the poetry chair, endowed with 7,500 euros Würth Prize for Literature is awarded as funding and Young Investigator Award, the prize money can be split. The award is a literary text, the theme of poetry lecturer has specified.

Würth Prize of Musical Youths Germany

With the Würth Prize of Jeunesse Musicales Germany, the Foundation will award in cooperation with the Jeunesse Musicales Germany (JMD ), the musical youth of Germany will be particularly encouraged. The prize money of 10,000 euros provided by the Foundation, the prize winners will be selected by the Board of JMD. The award will be given annually since 1991.
