Yoro Department

Yoro is one of the 18 departments in Honduras in Central America.

Capital of the department is the city of Yoro.

The department was founded on June 28, 1825 as one of the original administrative units after the independence of Honduras. Its present form it was 1881-1894 as part of the newly established departments of Yoro and Colón Cortés were split.

The main economic factors in Yoro are the cultivation of coffee, bananas and livestock.
