Yulia Lipnitskaya

Julija Wjatscheslawowna Lipnizkaja (Russian Юлия Вячеславовна Липницкая; * June 5, 1998 in Yekaterinburg ) is a Russian figure skater who starts in a single run. With the Russian team in 2014, she was the youngest skater of all time at the age of 15 years, Olympic gold medalist. It is the European champion of the year 2014.

Career

Julia Lipnizkaja began figure skating at the age of four years in her former hometown of Yekaterinburg. In 2009 she moved because of their great skating talent to Moscow to train there. She placed from the beginning to the front ranks at Youth Championships and won her breakthrough in the 2011/2012 season by winning the finals of the international Junior Grand Prix.

National and international career

Already in 2012, at their first participation in the Russian championship of senior, Lipnizkaja won the silver medal and in the same year both Russian Junior Champion and Junior World Champion. She became famous in this season and the fact that they rushed in any single competition. Also in 2012 she made her debut at an international senior competition, the Finlandia Trophy. She won several Grand Prix competitions, this year was still too young to participate in the World Figure Skating Championships.

After an injury, she returned in 2013, finished fifth in the Russian Junior Championships and second at the Junior World Championships behind her teammate Jelena Radionowa. In the following season they won the Finlandia Trophy and Grand Prix competition Skate Canada. By winning the Cup of Russia in Moscow then she qualified for the Grand Prix Final, which was finished with the silver medal. This makes it the second-youngest medalist their country after Eiskunstlegende Irina Sluzkaja. By a subsequent second place at the Russian championship they quafizierte for participation in the European Figure Skating Championships in 2014 and got there right away the title.

2014 Olympics

At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, she won the new team competition with the Russian team gold and was also in this competition erstplatziert among the ladies in the short program and free skating. In the individual competition of the ladies she managed a 5th place.
