Yvonne Romain
Yvonne Romain ( born February 17, 1938 in London as Yvonne Warren ) is a British actress and model. She starred in films such as The Curse of Siniestro, The whip or Sheila.
Life and career
Yvonne Romain was born in 1938 as Yvonne Warren in London. The black-haired former fashion model owes her exotic, dark look of their Maltese descent. Romain was a graduate of the Italia School of Acting and from the age of twelve, she appeared already in children and talent shows. At age 18, she made her screen debut as an Italian girl in Jay Lewis comedy film The baby on the battleship, in which starred John Mills and Richard Attenborough.
In British horror films such as Corridors of Blood or The red shade she played only minor supporting roles. The breakthrough as the lead actress succeeded Romain in 1961 with Terence Fisher film drama The Curse of Siniestro on the side of Oliver Reed. In the same year she starred opposite Herbert Lom and Sean Connery in the thriller The whip of director John Lemont.
Then we saw Yvonne Romain 1962 Peter Graham Scott's The gang of Captain Clegg and 1964 in Jim O'Connollys Crime smoke as a partner of Peter Vaughan.
In John Gillings adventure film The Last of Fort Kandahar they were seen again next to Oliver Reed.
Since the 1960s, then the accumulated exposure to television series, such as in: secret mission for John Drake, Top Secret, Miss Adventure, Simon Templar, The Third Man, or THE Cat - Artist and detective.
After Romain had moved in 1966 to Los Angeles, she reduced her film career and laid by the comedy Zoff for two Norman Taurog in 1967, where she was seen on the side of Elvis Presley, a multi-year pause.
In the star-studded thriller from director Herbert Ross Sheila, she played in 1973 then her last film role alongside international stars such as Richard Benjamin, Dyan Cannon, James Coburn, James Mason, Ian McShane, Joan Hackett and Raquel Welch.
Yvonne Romain's film career includes more than 35 international movies, TV films and TV series. In 1958 she married film composer and lyricist Leslie Bricusse. The two have a son from her marriage.
