Zdravljica

Zdravljica ( German: toast or cheers ) is a poem by France Prešeren. Written in 1844 and set to music later Stanko Premrl ( 1880-1965 ), brings Prešeren in her Slovenian and Slavic consciousness expressed and propagated the idea of ​​United Slovenia. The Zdravljica played a major role in the formation of the Slovene national consciousness and in the national and social liberation.

The Zdravljica was determined on 27 September 1989 during the formal session by the then Slovenian parliament 's national anthem. Since independence in 1991, the seventh stanza serves as the national anthem of Slovenia.
