Zell is a municipality in the district of Winterthur in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland.

Geography

The town of Zell is next to the homonymous village, from the villages of Rikon, Kollbrunn and Rämismühle, as well as the hamlets Oberlangenhard, Unterlangenhard, Lettenberg, Shors and garden. History

The place cell was 741 mentioned as Cella first written. The village belonged to a noble family and a Alamannic members of this family gave the village to the monastery Lützelau. 744 went into the possession of this St. Gallen monastery over. Over the following centuries the ownership changed again and again, first to the County of Kyburg, and later to the Habsburgs, and finally after the end of the Old Zurich War to Zürcher.

The municipality has developed cell after the withdrawal of the French troops in 1799 and is since 1934 in its present form, after Hinterrikon joined as the last district to the municipality.
