Zoltán Fodor

Zoltán Fodor (born 29 July 1985 in Budapest) is a Hungarian wrestler. He won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the middleweight division at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Zoltán Fodor grew up in Budapest and began there in 1994 at the age of nine with the rings. The club for which he starts is Ferencvaros Torma Club (FTC ) Budapest. His first coach was Jószef Széles. Since he he is a member of the Hungarian national team managed by former Olympic champion András Sike. Fodor is 1,82 m tall and weighs between 86 kg and 88 kg un launches exclusively in the Greco- Roman style. For the competitions he trains in the middleweight ( up to 84 kg body weight ) from. He is currently professional wrestler and practically started in the 2007/ 08 season in the 2nd Bundesliga for the AC Auerbach. From the autumn of 2008, he will start for the SV Germania Weingarten in the 1st German Bundesliga. Maybe it will come there to a rematch with Andrea Minguzzi, his Italian conquerors in the battle for the Olympic gold medal in Beijing, because these struggles in the 1st Bundesliga for TSV Dewangen.

The international career of Fodor began in the younger junior category ( Cadets ). In 2001, he finished it at the Junior European Championships in Izmir at lightweight the 5th Place. In 2002 he was European champion in the welterweight division in the same junior category in Odessa. In the older junior category ( Juniors) he was sm start in 2003 at the World Championships in Istanbul, in the welterweight division. He lost there but just his first fight against Ilgar Abdulov (Azerbaijan). A victory in the next fight over Tsukasa Tsurumaki (Japan) did not help him much, because he left and finished only 19th place.

In 2004, he came at the Junior European Championship ( Juniors) in Murska Sobota (Slovenia ) in the middleweight division to 4th place. He lost his semi-final fight against this Kohar Jure from Slovenia on points. The last time he started then in 2005 at a junior championship. In Vilnius, he lost his first fight against Wladimir this Gegeschidse from Georgia. Since this did not reach the final, he left and came in the final accounts only on the 30th place.

2006 once Fodor at the Hungarian middleweight championship 2nd place behind Sándor Bárdosi, the Olympic Second of Sydney 2000. He was inducted into this year in a World Cup tournament in Budapest, but there was not against the more experienced competitors on the course and finished only eighth place.

But in 2007 he broke Sándor Bárdosi from a Hungarian middleweight champion and placed also at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he finished 2nd place behind the French Melonin Noumonvi, before this. He was then employed at the European Championships this year in Sofia. There, he won his first fight against Petru Although Schaporojan from Moldova, but resigned in defeat in his next fight against Kim - Jussi Nurmela from Finland and finished in 16th place. At the 2007 World Championships in Baku, he came to three victories over Laimutis Adomaitis from Lithuania, Attila Batky from Slovakia and Dennis Forow from Armenia. The move into the semi-final he missed with a defeat against former world champion Ara Abrahamian of Sweden. But he came in 8th place and thus qualified directly for participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

In Beijing, Zoltán Fodor started as an outsider. But he had been preparing excellent for the Olympics as part of the Hungarian national team and was rewarded with the silver medal in the middleweight division. Towards this medal he defeated Ma Sanyi of China, Shalva Gabaradse from Azerbaijan and the former world champion Nazmi Avluca from Turkey. In the final he was defeated by another outsider, Andrea Minguzzi from Italy. In the first two rounds, none of the wrestler could gain an advantage. A round here went to Fodor and to Minguzzi. In the decisive third round Minguzzi glückten two votes, with which he defeated Zoltan Fodor 4-0 technical points. Winning the silver medal is for Fodor but an excellent result.

In the international championships, Zoltan Fodor denied to Beijing, he could not place it in the front of the field itself. The best result that he still scored, was an eighth place finish at the 2009 European Championship in Vilnius. At the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark he came only on 27th place and at the European Championships 2010 in Baku and in 2011 in Dortmund, he showed places 21 and 13
