Bickenbach, Rhineland-Palatinate

Bickenbach is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Emmelshausen.

Geography

Bickenbach lies between the Hunsrückhöhenstraße and the valley of Baybachs.

To Bickenbach includes the living spaces on the oven, Sunday mill, Lindenhof, Birkenhof, Berghof and Grabenhof.

History

1147 we find the first written evidence of the existence of Bickenbach. The place belonged to Gallscheider court, which was in undisputed possession Kurtriers since 1453. The already mentioned around 1330 parish church was rebuilt in 1771/1772 as a baroque hall construction.

With the annexation of the left bank of the Rhine (1794 ) by French revolutionary troops, the place was French. From 1798 to 1814 Bickenbach belonged to the canton of Boppard in the Rhine- Moselle department, and from 1800 to the Mairie Halsbach. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration came Bickenbach 1816 to the mayoralty Pfalzfeld in the district Sankt Goar and Koblenz Region in the province of the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine ( 1822 Rhine Province ). After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. Since 1970, the local church Bickenbach belongs to the municipality Emmelshausen.

The local council in Bickenbach consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: " divided plate, top in red with a silver bar at the bottom of gold, the front a black book filled with three silver stones, behind a green palm branch ."

The upper shield part refers to the former Gallscheider court. The lower plate part shows the symbols of St. Stephen, the patron saint of the parish church to Bickenbach. The coat of arms was designed by a court seal from 1632.
