Geography

The village Halsbach located northeast of Emmelshausen on the Hunsrück plateau. East of the local situation runs Hunsrückhöhenstrasse. Districts of Halsbach are Ehr, Ehrerheide and Mermicherhof.

History

The village was mentioned in 1241, first documented under the name Halstinbach.

Until 1508 the town belonged to the rule Schoeneck, who was a sub- rule in the Electorate of Trier since the 14th century. After that, the town belonged to the end of the 18th century Gallscheider court that was under the kurtrierischen Oberamt Boppard.

After Trier fire book, there were 1563 in Halsbach total of 18 subjects belonging to five different landlords: nine to the Electorate of Trier, three to rule Schoeneck, two to Electoral Palatinate, two to rule Waldeck and two to the rule Eltz.

After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine (1794 ) by French revolutionary troops, the village belonged from 1798 to 1814 for the district of Koblenz (Canton Boppard ), which was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration, the community Halsbach 1816 came to the district Sankt Goar in the Region of Koblenz, Halsbach was the seat of mayor of the same name. Since 1946, the community is part of Rhineland- Palatinate.
