Harry Lane Englebright

Harry Lane Englebright ( born January 2, 1884 in Nevada City, California, † May 13, 1943 in Bethesda, Maryland ) was an American politician. Between 1926 and 1943 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Harry Englebright was the son of Congressman William F. Englebright ( 1855-1915 ). He attended the common schools and then studied at the University of California at Berkeley. After that he worked as a mining engineer. He also worked as a geologist at the District Office. Between 1911 and 1914 worked Englebright for the Conservation Commission of the State of California. He was also involved in several companies in the mining industry. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

After the death of Representative John E. Raker Englebright was at the due election for the second seat from California as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 31 August 1926. After nine elections he could remain until his death on 13 May 1943 at the Congress. During his time in Congress, the New Deal legislation of the Federal Government there were passed under President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933. Since 1941 the work of the Congress of the events of World War II was determined. Harry Englebright was buried in his birthplace of Nevada City.
