Italy at the 2012 Summer Olympics
Italy took part in London at the 2012 Olympic Games. There was a total of 26 competing in the Olympic Summer Games. From the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano 290 athletes were nominated in 22 sports.
Flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the foil fencer Valentina Vezzali.
On August 6, the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale closed the walker Alex from Schwaz because of a positive doping test from the games. Schwaz, Olympic champion in the 50 km walk at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, on June 30, positive for erythropoietin ( EPO) was tested.
