Lavello

Lavello is an Italian town in the province of Potenza and the Basilicata region. In Lavello vines are grown for the red wine Aglianico del Vulture.

Geography

Lavello is located 66 km north of Potenza. Live there 13,612 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

The neighboring towns of Ascoli Satriano are Lavello (FG), Canosa di Puglia ( BA), Cerignola (FG), Melfi, Minervino Murgia (BA ), Montemilone, Rapolla and Venosa.

In Lavello is an airfield for general aviation.

History

The Roman- German King Conrad IV died on 21 May 1254 an army camp at Lavello malaria.
