Pietragalla is a place in Italy in the province of Potenza, in the Basilicata region. It has 4210 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) on an area of ​​65 km ².

Geography

Pietragalla located 20 km north- west of Potenza. The neighboring communities are Acerenza Avigliano, Cancellara, Forenza, Potenza and Vaglio Basilicata.

Attractions

The main church of Pietragalla is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari. The three-nave church was built in the early 13th century. Its present appearance dates from 1712-1750. Under the altar are relics of Saint Theodosius, the patron of Pietragalla. There is also a place in the Duke's Palace dating from the 15th century and a small agricultural museum.
