Michelbach, Rhein-Hunsrück

Michel Bach is a municipality in the midst of the hilly landscape of the Hunsrück in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kastellaun.

Geography

The place Michel Bach is located at an altitude knoll in the middle of open fields at an average altitude of 430 m above sea level, between the Külzbachtal and the Biebertal.

History

Michel Bach belonged to the late 18th century country wonderfully for Rear County of Sponheim and was last in the possession of the Duke of Palatinate -Zweibrücken. Within the Office Kastellaun Michel Bach belonged to the administrative and judicial district of Hasselbacher care.

With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1798-1814 it belonged to the canton of Kastellaun, who was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department. At the Congress of Vienna (1815 ), the region was awarded the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration Michel Bach was under from 1816 to the mayoralty Kastellaun in a circle simmering and was from 1822 until the end of World War II to the Rhine province. 1850 a boys' house was founded by Pastor Alterkülzer Bartels and 1851 laid on the Schmiedelgelände between simmering and Nannhausen in Michel Bach. There, a first building of the Schmiedelanstalten was built, which was inaugurated on September 13, 1851 for a householder and twelve boys.
