Scotty Baesler

Henry Scott " Scotty" Baesler ( born July 9, 1941 in Lexington, Kentucky) is an American politician.

Baesler studied at the University of Kentucky, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1963. Three years later he was at the Law School of the same university his Juris Doctor. In the same year he was admitted to the legal profession and started practicing. 1974 to 1977 he was vice mayor of Fayette County, where he became active in 1979 to 1981 as a judge. 1982-1993 Baesler held the office of mayor of Lexington. He tried in 1991 to become the Democratic candidate for the gubernatorial election, but could not prevail in the end.

Baesler was elected in 1992 as a Democrat in Congress and represented there, from 3 January 1993 to 3 January 1999, the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives. Place in 1998 to run again for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, Baesler tried unsuccessfully to be elected to the U.S. Senate.
