1970 World Men's Handball Championship
The 7th Handball World Championship for Men was held until March 8, 1970 in France on 26 February. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament. The world champion secured Romania, which prevailed in the final 13-12 after the second extension against the team of the GDR. The crew of the Federal Republic of Germany occupied at the end of the fifth.

Preliminary round
In the preliminary round, the teams were divided into four groups of four teams against each other. The two winners of each group qualified for the main round, the third-place play in a group for places 9 to 12, the fourth-placed resigned from.

Main Round
The top two teams from each preliminary round group reached the main round, which was held as the quarterfinals. The teams from groups A and C or B and D played in crossover games (second of one group against the other group winners ) against each other. The winners reached the semi-finals, the losers played in the placement round to the 5th to 8th places
