2007 World Women's Handball Championship

The 18th World Handball Championship for Women was held in France on 2 December to 16 December 2007. A total of 24 teams entered in the preliminary round and main round in groups against each other. After the final round followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals and placing matches the rest of the seats.

The World Championship was held in eleven cities. The knock-out games took place in Paris -Bercy Palais Omnisports in.

World champion was the team of Russia by a 29:24 victory in the final against Norway.

President's Cup

Similar to the Handball World Championship for Men in 2007 playing the countries that did not make it to the main round to the President's Cup. The games were held in Beauvais and Plaisir. The third-ranked teams will play in groups I and II for places 13-18, the Preliminary Fourth in groups III and IV for places 19-24.

Remarkable

  • The Ukrainian handball player Oksana Sakada broke several vertebrae in the group match against Germany and had the World Cup then terminate prematurely. After a preliminary investigation, the doctors nor the fraction of three lumbar vertebrae and paraplegia had thought possible.
  • The German preliminary round victory against South Korea was the first victory of a nation or all-German team against this country.
  • The 45:12 victory of the German team against Paraguay is the largest margin of victory of a German national. The old record dates back 30 November 1999, when the German team won against Argentina during the World Cup in Denmark 34:9.
  • With Angola for the first time an African team went into the final round.
  • The mark of 5000 gates was not quite cracked: it scored 4962 goals.
