2010–11 UEFA Women's Champions League

The UEFA Women's Champions League 2010/11 was the tenth European Champion playout of competition for women's football clubs and second under that name. 51 teams from 43 countries competed for the title. The competition began with the first matches of the qualifying round on August 5, 2010 and ended with the finale on May 26, 2011 in London at Craven Cottage Stadium and was won by Olympique Lyon with a 2-0 win over defending champions 1 FFC Turbine Potsdam.

Participant

At the UEFA Women's Champions League 2010/11 was attended by 43 national champion and the runner-up of the eight largest regional associations. For the determination of the strongest eight national associations, UEFA five year ranking is used. The 23 national champion of the strongest national associations receive a bye and engage only in the Round of the Contest. The remaining national champion and eight runners-up must only participate in a qualifying round. Unlike last year, Malta reported no team.

Qualification

The qualifying draw took place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on 23 June 2010. The seven mini-tournaments were held in the period from 5th to 10th August 2010. The seven group winners will qualify for the Round of. For this, the two best runners- Breiðablik Kópavogur and ŽNK Krka Novo Mesto, come (here only the games against the group winners and third are taken into account ).

Group 1

Tournament in Brondby (Denmark).

Group 2

Tournament in Šiauliai and Pakruojis (Lithuania).

Group 3

Tournament in Larnaca and Limassol ( Cyprus).

Group 4

Tournament in Kópavogur and Reykjavik ( Iceland ).

Group 5

Tournament in Krško and Ivančna Gorica (Slovenia). The game between Novo Mesto and Zugdidi had on August 5, 2010 due to a flooded pitch are canceled and was repeated on August 8, 2010.

Group 6

Tournament in Osijek and Vinkovci (Croatia).

Group 7

Tournament in Ballymena, Castledawson and Dunnagon ( Northern Ireland).

Final rounds

Round of

In the Round of the national champion of the strongest associations as well as the title holder engage in the competition. The first legs were held on 13 and 14 October 2010 on September 22 and 23, the return games. The draw took place in Nyon on August 19, 2010. The seeded teams had home advantage in the return match.

Second round

The first legs were held on 10 and 11 November, 2010 at the 3rd and 4th, the return games.

Quarterfinals

The first legs were held on 23 and 24 March 2011 on 16 and 17, the return games. The encounters were drawn freely among qualified teams on 19 November 2010.

Semifinal

The first legs were held on 16 and 17 April 2011 on the 9th, the return games.

Final

The final took place on 26 May 2011 at London's Craven Cottage, home of Fulham FC, instead. It was the rematch of last year's final, in the Potsdam had prevailed on penalties. For the player of the match Camille Abily was chosen.
