2013–14 Maltese Premier League

The Maltese Premier League 2013/14 is the 99th season in the history of the highest Maltese Football League. The season began on August 17, 2013 with the match between champions FC Birkirkara and Rabat Ajax FC and is expected to end in May 2014.

Mode

After a preliminary round, consisting of a round and a second round, the league is divided into two groups of six: The top six teams will play in the Masters round for the title and the international launch sites, the six worst teams against relegation. The points obtained in the group stage will be credited to half ( half points are rounded up ).

Clubs

Compared to the 2012/13 season, the composition of the league changed as follows: The Melita FC and the Ħamrun Spartans rose as last or vorletztplatzierte teams in the play- group in the First Division ( second highest division) from and were Naxxar Lions and Vittoriosa Stars replaced.

Only a few stadiums in Malta have the necessary infrastructure to hold regular Premier League matches can. These were the Ta ' Qali Stadium, the Victor Tedesco Stadium, and the Hibernians Football Ground. Although each team has its own training ground, but no matches are played on these in the rule. Therefore, the games usually take place on neutral ground, which makes the distinction between home and away games essentially obsolete.
