Roman Empire

• Constantine the Great, who had planned a large-scale Persian campaign, passed away on May 22. In the following months there was severe unrest, because the succession of the emperor was not backed up. Whether the murders after the death of Constantine the Great 337 still held, is controversial in research. It is certain that the sons of Constantine - Constantine II, Constantius II and Constans - were proclaimed until 9 September Augusti. Before that was apparently done in the exercise of government as if Constantine still alive. For example, a law of 2 August 337 was not adopted in the name of Constantine.
