This route is Fully expanded its approximately 103.5 kilometers long and run by Rupa on the Slovenian border over Rijeka to Žuta Lokva, where it meets the Autocesta A1.

Since 2005, the route from the Slovenian border to the Bay of Bakar near Rijeka is finished. A motorway connections to the Slovenian A1 is not now nor and is not yet substantiated by the Slovenian side. On 22 December 2009, the Rijeka bypass was opened to traffic and the A7 thus connected to the Autocesta A6. A weiträumigerere bypass of Rijeka between Jušići and Krizisce is planned, which will be part of the A7 after completion. The current bypass of Rijeka will then be a part of the A7 more.

On December 23, 2013 were completed with the pass of the Bay of Bakar another section of the A7. The A7 was extended from Bakar in Sveti Kuzam to the turnoff to the Krk Bridge at Krizisce. On July 16, 2013, the section was opened prematurely Krizisce direction to traffic. The complete traffic handover shifted from early November to late December and finally took place on 23 December. The construction costs amounted to 957 million kuna (equivalent to approximately 125 million euros ).

In three stages an extension of A7 to Autocesta Zuta Lokva is planned. These are the stages of construction Krizisce -Novi Vinodolski (25 km), Novi Vinodolki -Senj (16 km) and Senj - Zuta Lokva (15 km). The latter section is considered the most technically demanding.

The highway is autoceste owned by the motorway companies Hrvatske doo (HAC ) and Autocesta Rijeka -Zagreb d.d. ( ARZ) and toll road in part.
