Alabama State Route 20

The Alabama State Route 20 (abbreviated AL 20) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Alabama, which runs in an east - west direction.

The State Route begins at the Tennessee State Route 69 north of Florence on the border of Tennessee and ends after 135 kilometers near Mooresville on Interstates 65 and 565

Course

From the border with Tennessee State Route initially runs in a southeasterly direction and take in the city of Florence on U.S. Highways 43 and 72 and the Alabama State Routes 17 and 157 After crossing the Tennessee River, together with the U.S. 72 road parallel to the river in an easterly direction. History

The Alabama State Route 20 was opened in 1929 between Margerum and Tuscumbia. After eleven years, the route was extended from 1940 to Huntsville. In 1957, State Route took over the route of the former Alabama State Route 2 to the border with the state of Tennessee. The eastern end of State Route was first in 2000 and 2005 moved to Madison again to cross between the Interstate 65 and 565.
