Alan Parsons

Alan Parsons (born 20 December 1948 in London ) is a British musician and producer and co-founder of The Alan Parsons Project.

Life

As a child, Parsons learned piano, guitar and flute. He learned at Abbey Road Studios in London and was an assistant - engineer the recordings of the Beatles albums Abbey Road (1969) and Let It Be ( 1970). He was also engineer of Pink Floyd's album Atom Heart Mother (1970) and had his breakthrough as a sound engineer with their album The Dark Side of the Moon (1973). Then he sat for artists such as Pilot, Steve Harley, John Miles, and Al Stewart on the mixer. In 2013 he produced together with the triple Grammy -nominated progressive rock musician Steven Wilson whose third solo album The Raven That Refused to Sing ( And Other Stories ).

As the creative mind with many ideas for songs, Eric Woolfson proved, the Parsons met while working at Abbey Road Studios. Parsons and Woolfson 1976 adapted several stories of Edgar Allan Poe and formed with guest musicians from the album Tales of Mystery and Imagination, which she published under the name " The Alan Parsons Project". She had her first top 10 success in Germany in late 1979 with the instrumental piece Lucifer from the album Eve.

Parsons published - partly with old colleagues from Project - days as Stuart Elliott ( drums) and Ian Bairnson (guitar) more albums: Try Anything Once (1993) and On Air (1996 ) have a classic rock style. On the following albums The Time Machine (1999) and A Valid Path ( 2004) is to determine a transition to Electronica.

Parsons was also the producer and sound engineer the music for Richard Donner's film " Ladyhawke " ( Ladyhawke ) (1985 ), which was composed by Andrew Powell in typical Alan Parsons Project - style, however, is completely instrumental.

Private

Parsons is married and has two daughters, Tabitha and Brittni, with his current wife Lisa. He lives in Santa Barbara, California. He also has two sons, Jeremy ( Jerry ) and Daniel, from his first marriage.
