Allan Botschinsky

Allan Botschinsky ( born March 29, 1940 in Copenhagen, Denmark ) is a Danish jazz trumpeter, flugelhorn player, composer, arranger and producer.

Life and work

Botschinsky studied from 1953 to 1955 at the Royal Danish Conservatory and in 1963 at the Manhattan School of Music. From 1955 to 1960 he belonged to the Ib Glindemann to orchestra, worked next with Bent Axen (1959) and Bent Jædig as well as with local gas or animal in Copenhagen musicians such as Kenny Dorham, Dexter Gordon, Thad Jones, Ben Webster and Oscar Pettiford. After years with the Danish Radio Big Band, which he was a member since 1964, and tours with Mal Waldron, the European Trumpet Summit and the European Jazz Ensemble, he moved his field of activity increased after Germany, settled in Hamburg, where in 1985 he his later Mrs. Marion Kaempfert met, and played as a soloist in Peter Herbolzheimers Big Band Rhythm Combination & Brass. By Niels -Henning Ørsted Pedersen, he had a duo. In addition to the Blechbläserquartett First Brass with Derek Watkins, as well as Bart and Erik van Lier he had in the later 1980s and 1990s, another formation with musicians such as George Mraz, Victor Lewis, Lars Danielsson, Charles Fambrough and Jeff Hirshfield, with whom he a series of albums for the label MA Music box office. This label was founded in 1987 by Marion Kaempfert ( daughter of Bert Kaempfert ) and Botschinsky; he is still active as an arranger and producer for the label. Since Sentiments (1983 ) to Botschinsky has devoted increasingly to the composition of works in classical orchestral and chamber music occupation. For orchestra emerged, inter alia, the works Dronning Dagmar Patchwork and Turnus. His recent works include the series Colours - works for various solo instruments that were inspired from the combination of music and colors.

Awards

1963 Botschinsky was honored as the Danish "Jazz Musician of the Year ". For his Third Stream composition " Sentiments" he was awarded in 1983. The Danish television portrayed his work in 1984 in the show " The Music Of Allan Botschinsky ".
