Alpine is a census -designated place in the North Slope Borough in the state of Alaska in the United States. At the time of the census in 2000 ( U.S. Census 2000) had no Alpine inhabitants.

Geography

Alpine is located on the Colville River Delta about 35 miles from the coast of the Beaufort Sea and 8 miles north of Nuiqsut away. The area is located near the border of the National Petroleum Reserve. There is an arctic climate with temperatures below the freezing point at 297 days of the year.

History and Economics

Alpine is an oil-producing area. Oil production and the associated labor camp operated by companies ConocoPhillips and Anadarko Petroleum. Oil was discovered in the area in 1996. The oil field produces 100,000 barrels of oil daily. According to estimates, the oil field is in its lifetime produce a total of 429 million barrels of oil. The local residents of the nearby town of Nuiqsut are trained for the oil production in Alpine. An eight -mile road connects with Alpine Nuiqsut. Air traffic ensures the only year-round accessibility of the area. A system operated by the North Slope Borough airstrip is in Nuiqsut available. A private airstrip is operated by ConocoPhillips. Aircraft with Skikufen be used for local transport.
