Amsterdam–Schiphol railway

The railway line Amsterdam Centraal Schiphol is an approximately 17 -kilometer-long railway between the stations Amsterdam Centraal and Schiphol. The railway line runs from Amsterdam Centraal in a southwesterly direction to Schiphol.

History

The line was opened on 1 June 1986. The line was built to relieve the other lines and was electrified from the start. The route is double track and the top speed of the track is 130 km / h At the opening of the new stations Lelylaan Amsterdam and Amsterdam De Vlugtlaan were opened to traffic on the track. On the section between the stations of Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam Lelylaan Metro line stops 50 since 1997, parallel to the railway line. The plans had been considered that the De Vlugtlaan station is to be closed with the commissioning of the Metro again. This was implemented only in 2000 into action, was needed as a place for the Hemboog that provides direct driving opportunities since 2008 from Schiphol to Zaandam, Purmerend and Enkhuizen. A change in the tower Sloterdijk Station is no longer necessary.
