Andreas Öberg

Andreas Öberg ( born August 6, 1978 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish jazz guitarist and composer.

Life and work

Öberg began with eight years playing the guitar. He studied at the Royal College of Music Stockholm. During his career he played among others with Les Paul, Barbara Hendricks, Jimmy Rosenberg, Putte Wickman, Joe Beck, Bruce Forman, Frank Vignola, Bucky Pizzarelli, Ulf Wakenius, Joey DeFrancesco, Mark Murphy, Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debarre, Marian Petrescu, Dorado Schmitt, Ken Peplowski and Florin Niculescu. Öberg, the stylistic moves in the style of Django Reinhardt between mainstream jazz, modern jazz and gypsy jazz, put several albums under his own name before.

Prizes and awards

Öberg received in 2002 the Carnival Jazz Award 2002; In the same year he won the national jazz competition in Sweden. In 2003 he was awarded the Hagstrom Guitar Award and the Armstrong Award, 2004 with the Gevalia Award and the Scandinavian Patron of Le QuecumBar. At the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006 he was the winner of the audience award in the final of Gibson International Guitar Competition.
