Anita Gradin
Anita IngeGerd Gradin ( born August 12, 1933 Hörnefors, community Umeå ) is a Swedish Social Democratic politician.
Profession
Gradin has a degree in sociology and economics, and also studied public administration. She worked as a journalist since 1950. From 1967 to 1968 she was Director of Government in the Prime Minister's Office. 1992-1994 she was Sweden's Ambassador to Austria and Slovenia.
Gradin is married and has one child.
Party
From 1968 to 1982 she was chairman of the Stockholm County Council in the Social Democratic Women's Federation, and in 1975 also 2nd Empire chairman of the Social Democratic Women.
Member of Parliament
Gradin was a member of the Reichstag from 1968 to 1992 and a member of the training and the Finance Committee of the Reichstag and delegate to the Euro Europe.
Public offices
She was from 1982 to 1986 Minister at the Ministry of Labour with special responsibility for immigrant and equality affairs, then to 1991, Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with special responsibility for trade matters.
She was the European Commissioner for immigration justice and home affairs, relations with the Ombudsman, financial control and combating fraud in the Santer Commission in 1995 to 1999.
