Ankarafantsika National Park

The National Park Ankarafantsika is one of the oldest nature reserve in Madagascar in the region Boeny.

Geography

It is located 114 km south of the port city of Mahajanga and 450 km north of the capital Antananarivo. The National Road 4 ( Antananarivo - Mahajanga ) traverses the park. The closest villages are Andranofasika ( 4 km), Ankazomborona (23 km). and Marovoay (41 km). The eastern boundary formed by the River Mahajamba and in the West, the Betsiboka. The Ravelobe lake is part of the National Park.

Fauna & Flora

The National Park is home to eight different species of lemurs, including the Mongozmaki, the Coquerel Sifaka and the Western Fettschwanzmaki, 129 bird species, including the Madagascar Eagle ( Ankoay ), of which 75 are endemic. Furthermore, many reptiles such as chameleons, iguanas, snakes and freshwater turtles.

The flora of the national park is very rich, you will find 823 species here, of which 82 % are endemic.
