Arlington is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) in Sibley County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, Arlington had 2233 inhabitants.

Geography

Arlington is located in south central Minnesota at High Iceland Creek, a small tributary of the Minnesota River. The geographic coordinates of Arlington are 44 ° 36'30 " north latitude and 94 ° 04'50 " west longitude. The city covers an area of 4.07 km ².

History

The current city was created in 1856. From old records show that on May 11, 1858, a meeting of citizens stipulated the name Arlington for the place and the Township.

In the 1860s and 1870s many German immigrants arrived in the region. Thus, the city had a majority of ethnic German inhabitants.

In 1948, Arlington was incorporated as a Home Rule Charter City and released from the Township.
