Geography

Geographical Location

Unteraspach has a share in the natural areas Swabian- Franconian Forest and the Neckar basin. It lies on the southern edge of the Löwenstein mountains in 254-516 meters altitude. To the west of the district Kleinaspach is the Hardt forest.

Neighboring communities

Unteraspach bordered to the northwest by Großbottwar and Supreme box (both in Ludwigsburg ), on the northeast by Spiegelberg, to the east by Oppenweiler, in the southeast and south by Backnang, on the southwest by Kirchberg an der Murr (all Rems -Murr -Kreis) and in the West area of ​​the Hardt Forest at Steinheim an der Murr and smaller enclaves of Murr, Pleidelsheim, Erdmannshausen and Marbach am Neckar (all the district of Ludwigsburg ).

History

A large village Unteraspach was formed on February 1, 1972 as part of local government reform in Baden -Wuerttemberg from the formerly independent communities Großaspach, Kleinaspach, Rietenau and Allmersbach am Weinberg.

Großaspach

Großaspach mid-10th century it was mentioned in the Lorsch Codex for the first time. It was mid-11th century to the Counts of Calw. Later, the town belonged to the Counts of Löwenstein. 1388 bought the gentlemen Sturmfeder of Oppenweiler the place. But already in 1442 acquired Ulrich of Württemberg, a local half. Kleinaspach

Structures

In Großaspach is the Protestant parish church of St. Juliana, the tower of the lower deck comes from the Romanesque period and took its present shape through a remodeling in 1780. Baptismal font and altar cross from the 15th and 16th centuries.
