Assan Musa Camara

Assan Musa Camara (* April 21, 1923 in Mansajang Kunda, † September 15, 2013 in Banjul) was Gambian politician.

Life and work

Camara was a member of the Cabinet of The Gambia under President Dawda Jawara as the second foreign minister from 1967 to 1974. He was active in the party Gambian People's Party, which was banned after the military coup of 1994.

In the presidential election of 1987 he stood for election, but scored only 13.7 percent of the votes cast. In the presidential election of 1992, he received 8.0 percent of the vote. In both elections he was in each case the third strongest candidate.

Assan Musa Camara died in September 2013 and was honored with a state, was buried in the Old Cemetery in Jeshwang Kanifing.
