Augusta RiverHawks

The Augusta River Hawks are an American ice hockey team from Augusta, Georgia. The team plays since the 2010/11 season in the Southern Professional Hockey League, but has been reported for the season 2013/14 as inactive.

History

The Augusta River Hawks were founded in the spring of 2010 as a franchise of the Southern Professional Hockey League, in which they will take up the game mode from the 2010/11 season. In Augusta, the team fills the void left by the Augusta Lynx, who were active from 1998 to 2008 in the ECHL. Like the Lynx will deliver their home games at the James Brown Arena, which has a capacity of just over 9,000 spectators, the River Hawks. As the first head coach of the team of Canadians Brad Ralph has been presented, which was used as an active player among other things, for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League. He also played one year for the Augusta Lynx in the ECHL.

In their inaugural season the team reached after it had finished the regular season in second place behind Mississippi Surge, the finals at the President's Cup and lost them in three matches against the Surge.
