Aunat

Aunat is a small French village with 40 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Aude department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region; it belongs to the administrative district of Limoux and the Canton Belcaire.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 50 kilometers south-west of Carcassonne in the Pays de Sault, a mountain range between the deep valleys of the rivers Rebenty and Aude. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Joucou in the north,
  • Bessède -de -Sault in the east,
  • Escouloubre in the south,
  • Fontanès -de -Sault in the southwest and
  • Rodome in the West.

The river Aude with the Gorges de l' Aude runs along the southern boundary of the municipality.
