Axl Rose

W. Axl Rose ( born February 6, 1962 in Lafayette, Indiana, born William Bruce Rose, Jr., whose real name is William " Bill" Bailey ) is an American singer. He is since 1985 the frontman and singer of the rock band Guns N ' Roses.

Life

Rose's father William Rose left the family in 1964. His mother later married Stephen Bailey, whose surname he received. When he learned this at the age of 17, he changed his name to W. Axl Rose. "W" stands for " William " after his father, " Axl " was the name of his band. He has a sister and a stepbrother.

The early 1980s, he moved with his school friend and future bandmate Izzy Stradlin to Los Angeles to take there musically foot. Numerous fights and stays in drunk tanks accompanied him through the initial time. In 1985 he founded with Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), Tracii Guns ( lead guitar ), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums), the band " Guns N 'Roses ", with whom he replaced after a few personnel changes (Slash Guns, Duff McKagan came instead Beich and Steven Adler instead Gardener in the band ) released several highly successful albums in the next few years. After increasingly frequent tensions, the band broke up in 1996.

Axl Rose then disappeared from the public eye. In the late 1990s he was regarded as a recluse, rarely appeared in public and spent most of his time at his mansion in Malibu. For years he worked on the comeback album Chinese Democracy, which hit stores on November 22, 2008.

In 2007, Rose along with ex -Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach three songs that were released in November 2007 on Bach's solo album Angel Down.

Furthermore, Axl Rose got in the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas by Rockstar Games, the role as a radio announcer of radio station "K -DST " in which he bears the name of Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith.

On 11 April 2012, the Los Angeles Times published a letter from the singer, in which he refused admission into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, he would boycott the associated ceremony on April 14 in Cleveland.

Private

The marriage to Erin Everly (1990 ) were divorced after half a year, since both were allegedly drunk at the wedding. Then the singer was until 1992 with Stephanie Seymour dating, which can be seen among others in the video clips to November Rain and Do not Cry. Only a short time later they parted again.
