Bach an der Donau

Bach an der Donau ( officially: Bach adDonau ) is a municipality in the district of Regensburg Upper Palatinate and a member of the administrative community Donaustauf.

Geographical Location

Bach an der Donau is located as the name suggests on the Danube, south-east of Regensburg. In the north of Bach are the Scarecrow and the mountain Sauberg.

The municipality Bach an der Donau has three officially named districts:

  • Bach an der Donau
  • Demling
  • Frengkofen

History

The name of the village derives from the opening out with Bach in the Danube Perlbach. Until 1803 the municipality for high pin Regensburg belonged. In the Middle Ages the place was known as a wine growing region in the 15th century and had a private wine master office. Even today, to Bach grown wine on a small scale and marketed as Regensburger country wine.

Incorporations

In 1945 or 1946, until then independent municipality Frengkofen was incorporated. On January 1, 1978, added Demling.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "Under split of blue and silver in the wave cut shaft main shield divided by a silver wave path; front in red on silver, a silver mountain conifer, back in red over silver mountain a silver grapes with a leaf. "

The color scheme of the new municipality coat of arms from 1983 is based on the coat of arms of Regensburg patrician family Aunkofer (from blue, silver and red diagonally divided twice). The geographical location of the village on the Danube River at the confluence of Perlbachs is symbolized by the wave plate and the main shaft pile. The shaft pile " speaks " for the place name. The Silver Needle tree in the front field refers to the adjacent forest, the grape in the back field to the still tended vines. The silver mountains recall the location of the municipality on the outskirts of the Bavarian Vorwaldes.
