Geographical location

Bad Ueberkingen is in the Fils Valley in 441-750 meters altitude. It belongs in the Stuttgart region for marginal zone of the metropolitan region of Stuttgart.

Community structure

The community consists of four districts bathroom Ueberkingen, Hausen an der Fils, Oberböhringen and Unterböhringen. The official designation of the districts is done by preceding the name of the community and by hyphen adjusted the names of the districts. The districts also form residential areas within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code. History

Ueberkingen was rather late for the first time in 1258 mentioned. A Albreht de Vberchingen appeared as a witness on a deed of gift in favor of the Nördlinger hospital. Originally Alemannic settlement was then called Urbaricho, suggesting their founder Urbarchio. In the 13th century, the name changed in Ubrichingen. The place at that time belonged to the counts of Helfenstein. 1396 was the village, which was now called Over Chingen, into the hands of the free imperial city of Ulm. see also Castle Bühringen

Since 1927, the municipality may carry a " Bad". Since 1992, the community is " prädikatisiertes spa " - the first in the district of Göppingen.

Religions

Since the Reformation Bad Ueberkingen is dominated Protestant. Consist Protestant parishes in Bad Ueberkingen and Unterböhringen. The nearest Roman Catholic church located in Geislingen. On November 29, 2009, was Matthias Heim ( CDU) as a challenger against the incumbent, Martin E. Joos prevail. Martin E. Joos since 1993 has been mayor of Bad Ueberkingen. The term of office began on January 15, 2010.

Traffic

Bad Ueberkingen and Hausen an der Fils were connected from 1903 to 1983 by the railway line Geislingen - Wiesensteig to the rail network. The Royal Württemberg State Railways built the station building in Bad Ueberkingen and in Hausen as a unit Stations type IIb IIa, respectively. On a northern extension of the " Frankel " (680 m) is situated on sub Böhringer mountian the former castle Rommental. The castle site is still recognizable by the former moat, remains of walls is no longer one.
