Bell XP-77

The Bell XP -77 was a prototype of a lightweight fighter bomber and was built in 1944 out of fear of the U.S. government that essential war materials could be scarce. So was the aircraft ( first Bell Tri - called 4 ) predominantly of wood; a small V-12 engine generated the drive.

On 1 April 1944, the first flight took place; but at the end of the year, the entire project was abandoned.
