Ben Cureton

Benjamin Cureton, often Ben Cureton, ( born February 11, 1981 in Perth ) is an Australian lightweight rowers.

Career

Cureton began in 1996 with the rowing, in 1999, he finished in the quadruple sculls in fourth place at the Junior World Championships. In 2000 he succeeded with the Australian lightweight eight, his first World Cup victory at the World Rowing Championships 2000, he won the bronze medal with the roller. From 2001 Cureton rowed in the Australian lightweight coxless four, with whom he finished fourth at the World Championships in 2002. At the Olympic Games 2004, the lightweight four with Glen Loftus, Anthony Edwards, Benjamin Cureton and Simon Burgess won the silver medal. After a sixth place with the four at the 2006 World Championships was followed by a seventh place finish at the 2007 World Championships and a ninth place finish at the Olympic Games 2008. 2011 returned Cureton after a long break in the quad back and won the title at the World Championships in Bled, together with Samuel Beltz, Anthony Edwards and Todd Skipworth. In the finals of the Olympic Regatta in 2012, the Australian lightweight four finished fourth.

The 1.84 m wide rows Cureton for the Swan River Rowing Club. He works as a personal trainer.
