2002 World Rowing Championships

The World Rowing Championships 2002 were held from 15 to 22 September 2002 at the International Rowing Federation ( FISA ) on the Guadalquivir River in Seville, Spain. It 328 boats with 932 athletes from 53 countries were reported in 26 contests. For the first time rowing world champions were determined in the handicap rowing in two classes below 38 athletes.

Due to favorable weather conditions at the regatta course the world best could be improved in eight boat classes. Of these three world best inventory to date (as of December 2012).
