1978 World Rowing Championships

The World Rowing Championships 1978 were divided into two rowing regattas and discharged under the rules of the International Rowing Federation ( FISA ). While rowing world champions were determined in 18 boat classes.

The title competitions in 14 heavyweight boat classes ( no weight limit for the rowers ) were held on Lake Karapiro in Hamilton, New Zealand. The finals were held on 4 November 1978. In four lightweight boat classes already on 6 August 1978, the finals took place on the Bagsvaerd lake near Copenhagen, Denmark. Such a division of the World Rowing Championships in two rowing regattas, there has been only in 1978.

Results

Here are the medal winners from the A- finals are listed. These were filled with six boats that had to qualify through pre-and hope runs and semi-finals for the finals. The track length was in all races of men 2000 meters, in all races of women 1000 meters.
