1966 World Rowing Championships

The World Rowing Championships 1966 were held on Lake Bled in Bled. It was the second World Rowing Championships ever. The titles were awarded in the seven Olympic boat classes, rowers and lightweight rowers were not at the start.

The International Rowing Federation FISA raised in 1965 to the rule that only one German team should start. The World Championships in Bled was the first appearance at an international championship as an independent team for the men's rowing national team of East Germany. With three gold medals the team of the GDR was also the most successful team.
