Renzo Sambo

Renzo Sambo ( born January 17, 1942 in Treviso, † 10 August, 2009 Cesiomaggiore ) was an Italian Rower.

Renzo Sambo was in the second half of the 1960s in two with coxswain one of the most successful rower. At the European Championships in 1965, he won with Primo Baran and Giorgio Conte behind the Soviet boat the silver medal, two years later with cash and Bruno Cipolla gold before the representatives of the GDR with Hans -Jürgen Friedrich, Werner Riemann and Manfred Wozniak. The highlight of the career was the participation in the Olympic Summer Games 1968 in Mexico City, where Sambo with Baran and Cipolla won the gold medal ahead of the Netherlands and Denmark. Four years later he took in Munich again participate in the Olympics. Together with Antonio Baldacci, Pasquale Chiabai, Claudio Padoan and Alberto Cecchi he started in the coxed four and finished eleventh.
