1980 World Rowing Championships

The World Rowing Championships 1980 were held on the regatta course Hazewinkel near Mechelen, Belgium under the rules of the International Rowing Federation ( FISA ). The 14 Olympic boat classes were not extended in 1980 due to the Olympic rowing regatta in Moscow, so the rowing world champions were determined in only four non-Olympic lightweight boat classes of men. The finals were held on August 16, 1980. On the regatta course Hazewinkel Junior World Championships were organized in rowing at the same time.

Results

Here are the medal winners from the A- finals are listed. These were filled with six boats that had to qualify through pre-and hope runs and semi-finals for the finals. The track length was 2000 meters in all runs.
