Dieter Schubert

Dieter Schubert ( born September 11, 1943 in Pirna- Copitz, Saxony ) is a retired German rower, the 1968 and 1972 Olympic gold medalist in the coxless four boat class was for the GDR. With more seat rowing boats, he won three more gold medals as world champion and two gold medals as European champion. From 1966 to 1972 he won so consistently every year a gold medal at international tournaments.

Life

Dieter Schubert played until the age of 13 years at first handball and football later. In 1959 he moved to the rowers of his former sports club chemistry Pirna.

A little later, while still a teenager, he formed the racing community with Frank Rühle, Dieter Grahn and Frank Forberger, as the coxless four of the sports club SC Einheit Dresden eleven years ahead as had stock.
