Rudolf Eckstein

Rudolf Eckstein ( * January 1, 1915; † after 1939 ) is a retired German rower. In 1936 he became Olympic champion in the coxless four.

Eckstein won in 1933 his first German championship with the aft of the Würzburg Rowing Club from 1875. Following year he joined with Anton Rome, Martin Karl and Wilhelm Menne in the coxless four and won after winning the German Cup also at the European Championships in Lucerne. Missing in 1935 Charles Martin, for him sat Ernst Gaber from Mannheim RV in the same boat. The four rowers won both the boat class four without and in the four with coxswain at the German Championship. Together with coxswain Johann Hauer path they won also at the European Championships in Berlin. 1936 Martin Karl returned back into the boat. Eckstein, Rome, Karl and Menne won at the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936. After 1936, Eckstein went to Berlin for the rowing club at the Wannsee. At the European Championships 1938 in Milan he won the coxless pairs along with Henry Stelzer. 1939 were from 1938 to defend both their national title.
