Benjamin Kibebe

Benjamin Kibebe ( born August 13, 1981 in Addis Ababa ) is a Swedish footballer of Ethiopian origin. The defender, who played a part of his career in Norway and Denmark, in 2001 came to his only previous use in the Swedish national team.

Career

Kibebe began in 1988 with the football matches Rågsveds IF. In 1994 he moved to the youth department of IF Brommapojkarna on, before moving to Hammarby IF after three years. There, however, he remained only one season in 1998 and joined local rivals AIK.

1999 Kibebe moved on in the men's squad AIK, but was initially only in Svenska Cupen in the 1-0 success against Västerås SK in the round of 64 teams to use. His debut in Allsvenskan he celebrated in the following season and came to ten Erstligaeinsätzen, as well as a game in the European Cup. He was then called to the start internationals the Swedish national team in 2001. In the 0-1 defeat against the Finnish national team with a goal by Timo Marjamaa on February 1 of the year he made his debut as a substitute when he replaced at half-time break Olof Persson, the National Jersey. In the subsequent season of 2001 he was able to lay down on the side of Per Nilsson, Jimmy Tamandi and Daniel Tjernström as a regular force in defense and played 24 of 26 league games.

After AIK separated from the former coach Olle Nordin, lost Kibebe under his successor Peter Larsson his place. Even when he was sacked during the season, he found himself mainly under Dušan Uhrin on the bench again. Only under English coach Richard Money, he came back and denied preferred for use in the 2004 21 games.

Nevertheless Kibebe announced his departure from the Swedish football and joined the Norwegian Tippeligaen to Tromsø IL. For up to date two times National Cup winner he missed in his first season only a League game. At the end of the following season strove Sturla full, the coach of the ascended to the first division league rivals Aalesunds FK to a commitment by the defender. In the summer of 2008 Kibebe signed a three year contract with FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga. Due to the Norwegian transfer system he was only eligible to play from 1 August for his new employer, but was able to play tight in the early formation of the club. On the side of Dennis Cagara, Henrik Kildentoft, as well as his countrymen Johnny Lundberg and Andreas Dahl, he played 30 games in his debut season, in a 3-1 away win over SønderjyskE he scored his only league goal. After the signing of Andreas Bjelland in the summer of 2009, he was temporarily displaced from the starting line-up, but still was able to hold for long stretches of the season as a regular force in the defensive line. At the end of the season he reached the club to the final of the National Cup. There he formed with Pierre Bengtsson, Michael Parkhurst and Henrik Kildentoft the back four, in the extension remained in a 2-0 win over FC Midtjylland after goals from Nicolai Winther - Stokholm and Bajram Fetai without conceding a goal, and so contributed to winning the title.

Beginning of May 2010 signed Kibebe a three -year contract with Swiss Super League club FC Lucerne.
