The S-Bahn station Hohenzollern Damm is a railway station in the Berlin district Hallensee the district of Charlottenburg- Wilmersdorf. It is located at kilometer 28.6 of the Berlin ring road at the level crossing with the Hohenzollern Damm.

Location and construction

The S-Bahn station is located in the extreme south of the district Hallensee on the Hohenzollern Bridge. The central platform of the S -Bahn is below the bridge and is bounded laterally by the Sesselmannweg and freight tracks of the ring road and the city ring. Access is from the reception building and from the bridge over a pedestrian bridge and from there to the platform. As a third approach is direct access from the south-east side of the street was the Hohenzollern Bridge in 2008 created.

The station building is carried out according to the surrounding buildings as a living house. It was built in the style of early modernism with elements of Art Nouveau.

The station is on site. The installation of the railway station and residence is listed in the Berlin state monument list.

History

The station was built in 1908-1910 for the development of new residential areas on the Hohenzollern Damm. The opening took place on 1 November 1910. Since November 6, 1928, the breakpoint of the electric suburban trains will be operated from 1930 which gave rise to the S-Bahn.

The S-Bahn station was shut down along with the ring road because of the kingdom workers strike on 18 September 1980. The Berlin Transport Authority took over then 1984, the S -Bahn from the Deutsche Reichsbahn and began in 1988 with the renovation of the getting on in years reception building. A year lasted the repair work on the ring and train stations, as well the platform at Hohenzollern Damm S-Bahn station was moved under the bridge to the southeast in order to allow further access from the street side. Furthermore, an elevator system for the handicapped access was installed. The re- commissioning of the Südring was December 17, 1993. The new approach was followed about 15 years later, on 19 December 2008.

Connection

The S-Bahn station is served by the ring rail lines S41 and S42 and S46 of the S-Bahn. There is an interchange with bus line 115 to the Berlin public transport. Until November 1, 1954, there was a direct transition to the tram line 57
